BoT yaunda chombo kufuatilia sekta ya fedha

Akizungumza wakati wa uzinduzi wa chombo hicho kinachoundwa na BoT pamoja na taasisi nyingine za fedha, Gavana wa BoT, Profesa Benno Ndulu, alisema jukumu la chombo hicho ni kuhakikisha kwamba sekta ya fedha iko salama na haiyumbi.
Alisema chombo hicho kinaundwa na BoT, Mamlaka ya Usimamizi wa Masoko ya Mitaji (CMSA), Mamlaka ya Usimamizi wa Mifuko ya Hifadhi ya Jamii (SSRA), Mamalaka ya Usimamizi wa Kampuni za Bima (Tira) na bodi ya wateja wadogo wadogo wa benki.
Alisema lengo ni kubadilishana taarifa kati ya taasisi hizo ili kuzuia au kupunguza athari za mdororo wa uchumi kama utatokea.
Alisema kutokana na mwingiliano wa sekta ya fedha, benki zinapotetereka kidogo na maeneo mengine kama bima na masoko ya mitaji na hisa yanaathirika, hivyo uchumi kudorora.
“Matokeo yake linakuwa ni tatizo linaloikumba sekta yote ya fedha, kwa kuzingatia hilo ndiyo tumekubaliana tukae pamoja tuwe na chombo cha kubadilishana taarifa, kusimamia na kuweza kuotea matatizo yanapotokea na kuhakikisha tunaona tatizo mapema…tunaangalia pia mikakati ya kupigana na athari zozote,” alisema.
Profesa Ndulu alisema chombo hicho kitatoa taarifa ya pamoja kuhusu hali ya sekta ya fedha nchini badala ya kutoa taarifa ya mabenki pekee ambayo hutolewa na BoT mara mbili kwa mwaka.
Naibu Waziri wa Fedha, Janet Mbene, alisema msukosuko wa kiuchumi ulioikumba dunia umetoa fundisho kubwa na kwamba chombo hicho kimekuja kwa wakati muafaka.
Alisema Serikali itafanyakazi kwa karibu na chombo hicho ili kuhakikisha kwamba sekta ya fedha na uchumi viko imara.
The government has urged the US and European Union to cut agriculture subsidies in a bid to encourage farm produce.
“India and other WTO members have been seeking reduction in trade distorting domestic support of both these members in the agriculture negotiations under the Doha round of trade negotiations in the WTO,” Union Minister of State (MoS) for Commerce and Industry D Purandeswari informed the Lok Sabha on Monday.
“As per their latest notifications to the WTO in 2010, the US provided about $4 billion of support to their agricultural producers, under the category of current total aggregate measurement of support i.e support considered under WTO classification as trade-distorting and $120 billion as green box support, non-trade-distorting.Similarly, the European Union provided 9 billion euro as current total aggregate measurement of support and about 64 billion euro as green box support. In addition they provided euro 5 billion as direct payments under production-limiting programmes,” she said.
The efforts were underway to reach a consensus and early resolution of the Doha talks. The next WTO ministerial meeting is slated to take place in December in Bali, she said.
“The package being negotiated includes trade facilitation (TF), some agricultural issues including food security, some issues relating to LDCs etc,” Purandeswari said adding that certain developed countries including the US have opposed the developed nations’ proposal concerning food security while calling for a pact on TF.
Tanzania: GNLD Customers Now to Pay for Products Through M-Pesa
VODACOM Tanzania and GNLD Tanzania have signed a deal to enable people pay for GNLD products through M-PESA.Vodacom Tanzania Corporate Communications Manager, Rukia Mtingwa, said in the statement issued in Dar es Salaam individuals willing to pay for GNLD products did not need to carry money around for safety reasons.
"M-Pesa is a service that is safe and fast. With this partnership, you will not need to carry around money. All you need to do is make use of M-Pesa to make the payments," says Mtingwa.
On his part, GNLD Tanzania Country Manager, Daniel Mutiso, says that GNLD would maintain the highest level of quality in order to promote good health for everyone as well as provide opportunities to earn extra income.
"This partnership is the first of its kind in this market. We are happy to launch it today because it shall go a long way in helping everyone in this country," says Mutiso.
